I work in an 11' x 24' room jammed with all the hardwood and tools that I can afford. On a good day it reverberates with saws and routers, overhead fans, the cd player and there is the loose fun of creating living wooden ideas.
On a bad day I sit there on the workbench and stare at the sawdust on the floor and shake my head.
It's a place that I never have to be but I'm drawn to everyday, good or bad. My furniture is designed and built in this small shop next to our dock where the beginnings are the hardest part and the outcomes are seldom exactly as planned but that's a large part of the magic. Left alone for a time, furniture will emerge.
My emphasis is on creation, quality, and the risk of workmanship.
The wood is assembled using joints, not nails or staples. The glues are waterproof epoxies. The pieces are sealed with varnish or oil. Provided no one uses them as patio furniture, I expect them to last hundreds of years.
The designs are my own (after filtering every furniture design I've ever seen) and each piece is unique. If you are interested in anything shown in the website or if you would like to commission something, please contact me.
life and love are life and love, a bunch of violets is a bunch of violets, and to drag in the idea of a point is to ruin everything. live and let live, love and let love, flower and fade, and follow the natural curve, which flows on, pointless.
